I first landed in Medellin in 2014 as a tourist taking two weeks of salsa dancing classes, and then never really left.

Over the last decade, I've watched hundreds of places pop up and vanish. The most soulful spots often stay hidden because they aren't playing the Google Maps review game. They're too busy actually being great. To be honest, I've kept my favorite spots to myself for years.

Emerald started as a way to share my explorations with friends visiting. I personally vet every partner, from the beekeepers in the hills to the gym owners who actually know you. I look for one thing: authenticity.
